چکیده

The anticipation for the demand from low bandwidth to high bandwidth application leads to multiple-user class in mobile communication networks. In this paper, the connection admission control problem for multiple-user class with user mobility in mobile communication networks has been investigated. The user mobility and multimedia traffic are important factors in mobile communication networks. The previous works were either concentrated on single class calls or ignored mobility. An analysis of the connection admission control is defined and its results are compared with a generic class of connection admission control policy. An efficient method to calculate the connection level quality of service is also obtained. The results show that, besides offered load, user mobility can have a great impact on the connection level quality of service. This analysis may be employed in a network design tool for studying the admission control policy and for selecting parameters to satisfy the required connection-level quality of service (QoS). 1 Introduction It has been anticipated that demand for multiple types of s ervices, from low-bandwidth applications such as voice, to high-bandwidth applications such as data, image, and video, in near future through mobile communication networks. This leads to the implementation of multiple service, multiple resource (MSMR) networks, e.g., video conferencing, distributed database, etc. The mobile communications network under consideration consists of a wireless access network and a backbone network. Since mobile users are free to roam from cell to cell during a communication link, handoffs are necessary for link maintenance. There are three types of handoffs necessary for maintaining communication without terminating the service provided to the user while the user moves from one cell to another cell. The various types of handoffs are i. Intra – Radio Control Unit (RCU) handoff (i.e., between the RCUs' RP's), ii. Intra switch handoff (i.e., between the switch's and RCUs'), and iii. Inter switch handoff (i.e., between two switches). Due to user mobility and thus handoffs, utilization of the network resources allocated to mobile sessions continuously changes. Thus , delivering desired levels of QoS over networks to multiple types of mobile users in the presence of user mobility requires the development of new techniques and tools for resource management and connection admission control for these network elements to support network design.

A Simulation Analysis of a QoS - Based CAC

This paper describes a connection admission control (CAC) algorithm for ATM networks supporting diierent Quality of Service (QoS) classes, and illustrates its eeectiveness with simulation results considering both the call-level and the cell-level dynamics. A New Connection Admission Control for Spotbeam Handover in LEO Satellite Networks

Frequent spotbeam handovers in low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks require a technique to decrease the handover blocking probabilities. A large variety of schemes have been proposed to achieve this goal in terrestrial mobile cellular networks. Most of them focus on the notion of prioritized channel allocation algorithms. However, these schemes cannot provide the connection-level quality of...

Connection Admission Control Modelling for Atm Networks

The Connection Admission Control(CAC) is part of ATM traffic control and consists of a framework that optimizes network usage while ensuring the desired QoS for the services. The CAC approach we propose for ATM networks is based on a effective bandwidth allocation strategy. This paper addresses the effective bandwidth computation based on a probabilistic model for cell level QoS and call level ...
